Temic MPS6

Getrag gearboxes equipped with Temic MPS6 electronics are six-speed dry double-clutch transmissions installed in many small and medium-sized transverse-engined vehicles branded Chrysler, Dodge, Ford and Volvo.

In this configuration, for both front- and all-wheel drive cars, it reduces fuel consumption by up to 20 per cent compared to a conventional torque converter automatic transmission.

The choice of installing such a gearbox, which is light and compact and extremely versatile (it can be installed on diesel, petrol and hybrid engines), has meant an overall reduction in mass with a maximum torque management of less than 280nm.

Working on this transmission is therefore a surgical tuning job to increase speed and fluidity of shifting, taking particular care to increase the maximum torque limit values.

 

Bosch ZF6HP

ZF’s first 6-speed torque converter is a technological breakthrough in the world of automatic transmissions. Lighter and more compact thanks to the reduced number of components inside, it is designed to withstand (in some versions) high power and torque. This is the reason why manufacturers have used it on some sports cars, even as an alternative to the manual gearbox.

Bosch electronics matched with new protocols for this gearbox equip, as we have already seen, the BMW brand with the top 3 Series (E9x), but also Audi A4 B7 and B8 with Quattro all-wheel drive system.

Tuning of the maximum available torque, shift time and shift speeds parameters on this TCU will further enhance performance by optimising shift times and much more fluidity.

 

Kefico TC60 e TC80

The Kefico TC60 and TC80 control units manage the operation of Hyundai transmissions installed in Hyundai Genesis and Kia Ceed, Soul, Sportage, Sorento, respectively.

These 6- and 8-speed torque converter transmissions are installed in a wide range of medium-sized vehicles with transverse and longitudinal front engines. The gearboxes equipped on front-wheel drive cars (6-speed) achieve a record of their type thanks to the development based on variable pressure control, which reduces weight and size while maintaining excellent performance.

The design of this automatic transmission therefore allows good acceleration and reduced fuel consumption. Tuning the TCU calibration of these transmissions ensures an increase in overall performance for quick shifting and driving comfort.
